Both an overbite and an underbite are common orthodontic concerns. Many people have overbites or underbites that require orthodontic treatment. If your teeth overlap by 2mm more than a typical bite, you have an overbite (deep bite).
In the event your overbite is more extreme, your top teeth may cover your bottom teeth. This can lead to chewing issues, additional stress on the teeth and jaw, which result in tooth wear, chipping of the teeth as well as potential bruxism, muscle pain, TMD and headaches. While an underbite is less common than overbite, it still occurs. An underbite is when your bottom teeth extend outward farther than your upper front teeth which can cause open bite and severe stress on your back teeth.
If you have an overbite or underbite, rest assured that in many cases it can be reversed with Dr. Samadian’s help.
