When Should I Consider a Veneer?

Many features make up an attractive smile, and it’s not only how white or crooked teeth may be. Tooth length, gaps, or small chips can also cause insecurity in the smile. Veneers are an elegant solution to problems with the aesthetics of your smile, and the good news is they don’t require extensive dental work for Dr. Amin Samadian to apply.

How Do Veneers Work?

As thin as a contact lens, veneers are typically made of porcelain which are bonded to the surface of teeth to improve their shape, length, and color. Because Dr. Samadian’s offices have an on-site digital lab, you can try your veneers with 3D printing technology using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing the same day. With specialized software, Dr. Samadian can mock up your new smile to give you detailed visualization on what your veneers will look like, with shade matching that ensures your veneers look completely natural.

Porcelain veneers, however thin, do require some removal of your enamel in order to bond them. No-prep veneers can be bonded without removing a thin layer of the enamel. If, for any reason, you decide to have them removed, your underlying teeth will look exactly as they did before the no-prep veneers were applied.

So if you’re unhappy with certain aspects of your smile, or you’ve got noticeable wear and tear on your teeth that can be easily covered, veneers are a great way to address those concerns.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Good candidates for porcelain or no-prep veneers are those with otherwise healthy teeth who wish for a bright, even smile without discoloration, gaps, or chips. Dr. Samadian can guide you through whether porcelain or no-prep veneers are the better choice for you during a comprehensive evaluation.

When Should I Consider Veneers?

Veneers are a fantastic option for patients who don’t have a lot of time to commit to extensive dental repairs. But what can veneers really do for you?

Wear and tear or chips in your teeth can be embarrassing and cause you to hide your smile, or worse, not smile at all. Veneers can be elongated over your natural tooth to cover chips and uneven edges, so you can smile without worry knowing your teeth are even and white.

Discoloration can dull a bright smile and make you self-conscious. At-home whitening products may not go deep enough, and some stains are too embedded even for Zoom teeth whitening. Dr. Samadian can shade your veneers to a color that will be both brighter and natural without looking overdone.

Short teeth or pegged lateral incisors (pegged lateral incisors are where your incisors are not the same length as your front teeth) are common and can make patients wish their teeth were longer. Veneers can lengthen the appearance of your teeth and give you the smile you’ve always wanted.

Small gaps between the teeth are natural in between the incisors and canines, but between every tooth, these gaps, or diastema, can be less aesthetically pleasing. Veneers can close these gaps, so your teeth look straighter and more evenly aligned.

Minor crookedness of one or two teeth may be more about the tooth shape than the crowding of adjacent teeth. Veneers can be shaped in such a way that the teeth appear straighter and more parallel to their neighbors.

With same-day veneers with Dr. Samadian, you can quickly and easily have the smile you’ve always wanted.
