The third molars in the very back of your mouth that usually erupt when you’re between 17 and 20 years old are known as wisdom teeth. Sometimes, wisdom teeth can become problematic if they are not removed and lead to pain, gum disease, bone loss, cavities to the teeth next to them, pathologies, infection, crowding of the lower front teeth and a number of other dental complications. Dr. Amin Samadian offers wisdom teeth removal in Orinda that can help you prevent oral health discomfort and problems down the road.
Wisdom tooth extraction is intended to remove your wisdom teeth. It’s a straightforward oral surgery with a fairly quick recovery period.
Dr. Amin Samadian may recommend wisdom teeth removal if your wisdom teeth do not properly align and there’s not enough room in the mouth to keep them in proper bite and proper hygiene (which is the case most of the time). If they have grown in sideways, partially emerge from your gum, or are trapped beneath your gum and bone, the surgery can help prevent oral health problems that can quickly become painful and expensive.

The complexity of your wisdom tooth extraction will determine the type of anesthesia Dr. Amin Samadian will use. After taking a 3D cone beam CT scan that will show the alignment of the wisdom tooth in a 3D level and shows where the lower jaw nerve (inferior alveolar nerve) travels, Dr. Samadian will determine the best approach to take out the wisdom tooth. Once he administers the anesthesia, he’ll make an incision in your gum tissue in order to expose your wisdom tooth and underlying bone. Then, Dr. Amin Samadian will remove any bone covering the tooth and separate the connecting tissue.
Next, he’ll remove the tooth using an ultrasonic device in a minimally-invasive manner. The surgery will end when Dr. Amin Samadian cleans the debris site, uses stitches to close the incisions, and inserts the gauze to stop bleeding and ensure healing blood clot forms. He uses LASER to disinfect the area that will minimize the complications associated with wisdom teeth extraction.
While the wisdom teeth extraction itself is not painful, the recovery period may come with some discomfort. You can expect some pain, swelling, and bleeding that Dr. Amin Samadian will educate you on how to manage. Fortunately, you’ll likely be fully recovered in a few days.
After wisdom tooth removal in the Orinda, Moraga, & Lafayette area with Dr. Samadian, your wisdom teeth will be gone so you won’t have to worry about them causing any pain or problems in the future.
